Well it's not a meat rabbit, but I finally got my first rabbit. My husband let me go pick up my first bunny this morning. I'll be using this one for practicing with caring for rabbits before I get breeding rabbits for meat. The person I got him from told me he was a Mini Rex, but he looks like a Tortoise Dutch x Mini Rex to a rabbit breeder I showed pictures to. His fur is unbelievably soft, but not exactly like the fur of the Rex. His pattern also resembles the Dutch rabbits. Also, he is definitely a boy, I checked. I've got myself a handsome young buck on my hands. I'd place him at around 6-8 months of age. Without further ado, let me introduce Kizzy!
Sorry about the picture quality!

Congratulations! I can't wait to hear more about your rabbit adventures.
Congrats on your new addition! He's cute!
The boys were always my favorite bunnies, so sweet! All of mine went heat sterile last summer though so most went in the freezer & one pet stayed.
I'm toying with the idea of trying colony raising next round, I'm in the research phase right now :)
Enjoy your bunny!!
Hi! I hopped over from Blessed Little Homestead Life. Your rabbit post caught my eye.
I used to raise mini rex a number of years ago, and I'd have to agree that Kizzy doesn't look like a full mini rex, but he's really cute! We currently raise Californian's for meat. It's definitely worth the effort. The meat's wonderful. Kizzy looks like he's happy to belong to you!
Thanks for all the lovely comments. He's really sweet and funny. I gave him an empty toilet paper roll stuffed with hay to play with and he will pick it up and toss it around his cage.
Also, I can take the roll and toss it to one end of his cage and he will go get it and bring it back. Hehehe.
